Caroline O'Donoghue

Caroline O’Donoghue is a New York Times bestselling author and podcaster. She has published three adult novels, Promising Young Women, Scenes of a Graphic Nature and 2023’s international smash hit The Rachel Incident, which is currently being adapted for TV. All Our Hidden Gifts, her debut YA fantasy, was shortlisted for the National Book Token award and has been published in over 20 territories worldwide. It is the first of her critically acclaimed ‘Gifts’ trilogy and is followed by The Gifts That Binds Us (2022) and Every Gift A Curse (2023). Her latest YA fantasy novel, Skipshock, was published to rave reviews in June 2025.

Formerly a journalist, Caroline has written for The Times, The Guardian, and most of the Irish press. Her award-winning podcast, Sentimental Garbage covers “the culture we love that society can sometimes make us feel ashamed of” and regularly tops the podcast charts internationally.

Caroline was born in Cork but currently lives in London with her partner and a terrier with chronic eye problems.
